I am looking to replace a five year old Alpine CD player that I have in my wife's Honda Odessy. I am looking to spend around $200. I have been looking at Alpine and Pioneer. Any suggestions for specific models or other brands will be appreciated.

Get the Alpine 3856. $199 and $30 for the new iPod interface cable. Best iPod interface bar none. I don't even carry CD's in my car anymore, the iPod in the glovebox is enough.

Both Alpine and Pioneer units are great. The Pioneer Deh-P3800 would be a good choice if you are wanting Ipod control. All you would need is the aux. input adaptor cable to input the sound.

What speakers are you running? Just the stock ones, or have you upgraded?

Are you running an outboard amp, or are you planning to use the HU amp?

What features are important to you, or what goals do you have for the system?

For pure sound quality (fewer features), I'm a huge fan of Eclipse decks, but if you are running the stock speakers and SQ is not that important because of that, maybe you should look for something with a few more bells and whistles?

Good luck,

John

I am just planning to use the HU amp. Because of this I am looking for a CD player that will give me enough power for a mini-van.
