I'm hooking up a 10" powered subwoofer to my existing home theater system. The sub has an RCA input and my Yamaha receiver has RCA sub out.
I need to run cable approximately 30 feet and was hoping for reccomendations on cable.
Does the sub need a high end cable?

    Thanks,
    Zak

No, just use a good quality audio cable and you'll be fine.

I found that composite video cables work well, are cheaper than sub cables, and sheilded, too.

I once had a 25 foot run...I got it on ebay for $15, I think...?

I guess that's another question, can I use any cable video or audio as long as it has RCA plugs?
Does one carry low frequency better then the other?

    Thanks,
    Zak

I understand it this way with RCA plugs -

Audio = anything is fine - 30 to 300 ohm?
    Video = 75 ohm only
Coax digital = 75 ohm only

Yes, you can use just about anything for a sub cable, but for a 30' run, I would consider using something sturdy and shielded.

If you have no problem making your own, you can do this very easily with 30' of RG6 (CATV type) cable and some crimp RCA connectors for this type of cable that you can pick up at most Radio Shacks.

    Thanks for the info guys!
I found a set of 25'Monster THX certified subwoofer cable.
Not too expensive, $39.98 CDN approx $28.50 USD
    Seemed quite inexpensive for Monster...
