Just thought I'd report back and say I bought Season One of BSG (its so much better on DVD ;)) I'll be picking up Season 2.0 this week.

I think DVD has really negated a lot of the continuity concerns that people used to have. 24, one of the most serialized shows out there, has had ratings gains each season thanks to people having the opportunity to catch up via DVD. Indeed, this year's "it" trend of new shows seems to be serialized content like "Kidnapped", "Vanished", "The Nine", and a few other shows that seem to be inspired by 24's success. No reason that BSG can't continue to prosper as long as Sci-Fi continues to get the DVDs out in a timely manner at a reasonable price (and also assuming the series maintains it's quality of course).

I have all of the SG1 seasons and BSG and I definitely prefer the BSG DVDs. Not only are the extras better (commentary on most episodes, and deleted scenes) but the show is much more entertaining. The later seasons of SG1 contained more extras, but the quality of the show starts to go down about the same time. Also, the pictures quality on early SG1 seasons is very grainy.

I can't stand Battlestar Galactica or Farscape. But I will tolerate the Farscape and Wizard of Oz parodies that Stargate: SG-1 does for the comedic 200th episode (guest starring Richard Dean Anderson), which airs this Friday on the Sci-Fi Channel.
