Agreed. I would have liked to have seen the two trilogies released in two different boxed sets...so that I didn't have to spend another dime on the prequels.
As for the originals vs. special editions, a few things. There *is* the restoration issue which George Lucas mentioned and Robert Harris also mentioned on this forum. Aside from the restoration, I would love to see them included on the set (similar to the Star Trek episodes with a feature to choose enhanced SFX or original). The sticking point for me between the two versions is not the added SFX, it's the added scenes. Spruce them up all you want, but adding the few scenes bastardized the whole thing, especially the Jabba scene in A New Hope which is totally embarrassing.
The man has the money. Why not pay to have the theatrical cuts of the original trilogy restored? Unless the rumors about the royalties and his divorce settlement are true.
