I recently bought a Yamaha receiver prepackaged with speakers and a sub. The speakers, though much better than the tv speakers, are not the greatest and I am looking to upgrade. I'm not an audiophile so I am not looking to spend thousands on my system. That being said, I've done a little bit of research and have picked the following speakers and wanted your opinions on if they are as good for the price as the reviews claim.

These are the floor standing speakers. I'm looking at the first ones listed.

Next is the bookshelf speakers.

And finally the sub.

Also, I couldn't find a lot of information about center speakers so if anyone has any recommendations, let me know. Same goes for an amp. Are there any good ones for 300-400 dollars that would make a big difference? Thanks in advance.

Ok let me try to distill this down. Here is what you linked and I'm assuming what you're looking at.
  1. Towers - Pioneer FS-52
  2. Bookshelf - ELAC B6
  3. Sub - You don't specify but I'm assuming you're looking at the winner of that test the Monoprice 12"

First off some questions for you
  • What prepack did you get? Yamaha has several versions and the AVR differs with each one.
  • What's the budget for the speakers and sub? Please say if that is a pooled budget or list separately.
  • How large is the room?
  • What don't you like about the current speakers, what are you missing or lacking?
  • What features are you missing from the AVR?
You mention centers...the center should match the mains so whatever you decide for mains will determine the center.

Don't mix 'n match speaker brands.

Buy 5 of the same brand(series as well, but not "absolutely required") and the sub won't matter(brand wise).
