Sony 27FS12, Pink "Halos" ?? (1 Viewer)

I bought myself a Sony 27FS12 (I think; the PIP model) for the bedroom, have been very happy with it. So for Father's Day I bought my dad a 27FV12 (he has DirectTV only and no use for PIP). We set it up today, and the first thing I noticed is vertical pink "halos" on the left and right sides of the picture. They are very noticeable to me on a white background, but my dad says he doesn't notice them. The halos run almost all the way from the top to the bottom of the picture tube on both sides. I played with various picture settings, no real change no matter what I do.
Anyone else noticed this, and if so, is there an easy fix? I'm familiar with dinking around with the service mode settings, so that doesn't faze me. I'm debating about whether to return the set.
