Software to spider/download files from a website? (1 Viewer)

Often at work it has become necessary to grab all the files in a web directory (a prime example is with manuals for products- it wold be very helpful to be able to just send a program to the directory with instructions to grab all .PDF files so I can get all the manuals from a series of products rather than downloading individually).

I found one web app, PAQRAT, which was clumsy, errored, crashing and generally lame. I wondered if anyone else had seen an application to do this- and could suggest a decent one.
