The about face doesn't surprise me. The need for instant gratification is powerful. A lot of the same people who bought HD-DVD players will probably buy a BD player as well...........well, except for Rob-HD.......who should probably be calling himself Rob-HD-DVD, since I suspect he is an industry plant.
As for the low end PS3 not having an HDMI connector. I think that was a dumb move on Sony's part. They should have dropped the hard drive on that model, just like XBOX 360 did. Of course, the upside is that the PS3 does at least come with an HDMI connector......none of the XBOX models has that. It blows me away that people think a device specifically designed to play games and movies should be sold at or below the cost of a cut-rate box that only plays movies......WOW!
