In broadcasting, that's considered a neutral voice, or non-accent.

I think most singers just sing how they sing and aren't trying to have (or not have) an accent. If non-American singers thought singing with an American accent would get them more fans, why don't they use an American accent when they talk?

Many of the early Britsh/Irish punk groups sang with their own accents.

Johnny Rotten - Sex Pistols
Joe Strummer, Mick Jones - The Clash
Paul Weller - The Jam
Pete Shelley - The Buzzcocks
Jake Burns - Stiff Little Fingers

Germans sound German even when they sing in English.


They're English? I guess they are. But they don't sound it, to my ears.

I thought they sounded British, in "I Don't Want Your Love". I guess it's just some of their songs.
