It should be fine, that's where they are made to go. If it does get damaged somehow, they are usually inexpensive to replace, depending on how you've got it installed.

As I posted in another thread, I recently installed XM on my BMW. I had to use the antenna supplied with the XM Direct but I'd like to cover it somehow. I am afraid to find out if the magnet is strong enough to withstand a carwash and removing it before each wash is out of the question. Is there any aftermarket cover I can acquire? Something similar to a permanent install? Searched all over the Net but nothing. Any ideas?

Those antennas are pretty well magnetized.

I have had them resist wind and car washes.

never had a carwash problem here with mine either - the older, bigger SkyFi 1 car kit antenna, or the newer smaller, low profile antenna that came with my Tao

I have the antenna for the Roady2 on my car roof. No problem going thru car washes. The antenna has 4 'feet or nubs' on the bottom that keep it from scratching the paint. Just remember to move it carefully (if at all) and you should be fine.

No scratches on my old car. As Lew stated, just
    be careful moving it around.
