Well right off you should get the season sets for Battlestar Galactica. Also Stargate SG-1 is a great series currently in its last season (10th) but it doesn't end there as there will be 2 direct to video movies coming as well.

I agree with Scott and Roger, especially with regard to BSG and Firefly. I would also add 'Kyle XY', 'Space: Above & Beyond', 'LOST' and when it is released, 'Eureka', a great little Sci-Fi original show.

Oh, and 'Supernatural' for sure!!!

thanks for the suggestions, also anyone recommend Weeds, Monk, The Shield, Titus, Hunter, Soul Food or Mind Of the Married Men. A couple of shows I was also considering most would be blind buys.

When you talk about shipping them to the UK what is the problem there? Why can't they cost too much?

Well you seem to like sci-fi/fantasy shows so I'd suggest

4400
Carnivale
Eureka (out in July)
Farscape (go for the cheaper Australian sets)
Heroes (out in August)
Lois and Clark
Quantum Leap
Roswell
Stargate
Stargate: Atlantis
all the Star Trek series
Twilight Zone (original series)
Twin Peaks

And with you owning X-Files you might want to try the Lone Gunmen. Not a brilliant show but good fun

And a couple of sci-fi/fantasy sitcoms like Futurama and Third Rock from the Sun. Or even some real nostalgia trips with Bewitched and ALF :D

As for sitcoms I love and would recommend

Arrested Development
Cosby Show
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Family Ties
Frasier
How I met Your Mother
MASH
My Name is Earl
Scrubs
Seinfeld
South Park
Taxi
That 70s Show
Two and a Half men

And a bunch of other shows

Boston Legal
Desperate Housewives
Entourage
One Tree Hill
Picket Fences (Out in June)
Prison Break
Veronica Mars

And I would definitely recommend Monk, brilliant wee show. You might also want to try Psych (a new show from the creators of Monk)

Sorry there are so many shows there but I love TV and DVDs and it's hard to limit it down. Was going to give comments on all the shows but the list just kept growing and growing so left it. Might do so later on at some point

PS - Forgot one of my favourite ever shows, Moonlighting!

I second this recommendation! I'm now discovering this show after never having watched it as it aired...a very entertaining show on DVD, especially since I don't have to endure all the commercials.

If I buy a show that ends up costing more than £18 about $35 including shipping I think. Customs in the Uk usually charge me around another £10 or more to retrieve it.

I'm in the UK as well but have got round that as there are a few places you can buy from where you won't pay custom tax. They are either already based in the UK or they ship to a warehouse/offices in the UK and then forward it on to you

I'm pretty sure PlayUSA are not customs friendly.

Places that I know for definite to be customs friendly include www.cdwow.com, www.loaded247.com and www.dvd.co.uk (not a huge selection though). And although I've not used them www.movietyme.com are apparently customs friendly

Have a look here for some help

And it seems that ebay and amazon marketplace sellers also seem to be ok quite a bit

Playusa.com is a brilliant site, come from play.com. PlayUSA - region 1 DVD's if they are under £20 you won't get charged customs as they send anything over £20 roughly $40 from USA to UK instead of UK to UK.

It would be great to have a site where you could type in the names of TV shows or films and have it recommend similar titles for you. Like the "suggestions" function on a TiVo.
