It's strange that Star Trek new iterations kind of had me thinking about shows that run seven years and then that's it.

So, I was trying to think of prime-time shows that have run for more then 7 years. (Not News Programming)

Here's a small list of what I've got:

    Law & Order
    Simpsons
    South Park

I'm trying to think of more that managed to break the 7 year barrier.

You know, once you figure out the right phrase to search for, Google kinda takes the fun out of it: longest running tv

Yeah, I knew google would have the answer, but I really didn't want that, I wanted to see what shows people remembered for their long runs. I mean, heck, things like Howdy Doody probably ran forever, but it doesn't leap to your mind as a long-running success [IMG]

I think it still stands, but the character of Fraiser is the longest running sitcom character.

    Cheers: 1984-1993
    Frasier: 1993-2004

21 years of playing the same character.

American sitcom character, maybe. Peter Sallis has been playing the same character on Last of the Summer Wine since 1973.

Prime time schmime time, it runs when it runs. [IMG]
In 1974 Willie Nelson taped the pilot performance for Austin City Limits.
    Season One began in 1976.
I'm going to see Ghostland Observatory and The Decemberists tape a show soon.

Yes, that is correct. Both are among my all-time favorites of any sitcom so far. Frasier was especially, given it's more upscale humor.
