Some folks have been talking about how bad MIB2 is. Especially Mr. Dugger... On the flip side of that coin, what sequels have actually been a better film than the original?? My obvious vote is "Aliens."

Any more???

I guess I would have to say "Austin Powers, the Spy who Shagged Me" is pretty close.

Definitely better than the original:
1. The Godfather Part II
The Empire Strikes Back
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
Highly debatable but might be better than the original:
1. Scream 2
Terminator 2: Judgment Day
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors
I certainly would not be willing to argue it, but I would agree that a case could be made for T2. T1 vs T2 could go either way, and it seems my favorite of the two is whichever one I watched most recently. [IMG]

Same with Scream 1 vs. Scream 2...a case could be made for either. I like 'em both!

Evil Dead 2, Dead by Dawn??

Depends on what you like, I suppose. ED2 is much more comical.

I can't say any sequal I have seen is better than the original, but The Empire Strikes Back is probably the one.

Aliens is close but Alien is pretty awesome, same with The Godfather. I also like T1(T2 is too bubble gum for me), Batman(The Joker takes it), Austin 1(didn't like A2 that much) much better than the sequals.

How about the second Indy and the second Back to the Future thingy. I have no opinion on Indy and I don't think I saw any of the Back to the Future ones except the first. Jaws 2, anybody [IMG] ??

Sometimes I find that I like Back to the Future 2 more than the first installment. You get the future, the past, and an altered version of the present...so how can you lose [IMG]

I like all of these sequels better than those that came before them:

Bride of Frankenstein
Evil Dead 2
Army of Darkness
Goldfinger
A Shot in the Dark
Addams Family Values
Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me
Batman Returns
Scream 2
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2
A Very Brady Sequel
Back to the Future Part II
T2
Lethal Weapon 3
Die Hard: With a Vengeance
The Silence of the Lambs (as a sequel to Manhunter)
Star Trek II
Along Came a Spider
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
The Bells of St. Mary's
Toy Story 2
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (at least as good as the original, maybe better)
Gremlins 2
Hot Shots! Part Deux
The Wrong Trousers
