Rock Around the Clock by Bill Haley & The Comets. I'm as old as Rock n' Roll. Both life-affirming and depressing at the same time. :frowning:

Funny, I have recently been looking at getting some of their music.

Glenn, Johnny Kidd & the Pirates version of Shakin' All Over is the original (later covered by the Guess Who and The Who, to name the two most famous). It's available on Rhino's Loud, Fast, and Out of Control box (my favorite version is still the Guess Who's).

Re Larry above saying albumvote has other No.1 songs.
thisdayinmusic.com list the No.1's when they were No.1. Site's like Album vote list them from book's that always have week ending dates. So this makes thisdayinmusic have the No.1's on the right day.

UK: Travellin' Light - Cliff Richard and the Shadows
US: Mr Blue - The Fleetwoods

Not exactly the most enthralling singles ever, but harmless enough I suppose.

On December 22nd, 1982, these songs were at the top:

USA: "Maneater" by Hall & Oates
UK: "Save Your Love" by Renee and Renato

On my 18th birthday, the anthems for my life turned out to be:

USA: "Independent Woman, Part 1" by Destiny's Child
UK: "Can You Fix It" by Bob The Builder

Sincerely,

John Kilduff...

Not a damn word from any of you!;)

Mine gave me a pretty funny typographical error. It said the #1 song on my birthday, October 29, 1968, was "I Can See Clearly Now" by Johnny Cash. As much as I would be curious to hear that version, I'm pretty sure that they meant "Johnny Nash". :)

Regards,
