The absolute golden era for classic television was the mid-80s. As someone who didn't get cable in their area until 1990 I was going crazy having to trade so much. Besides CBN, which was great even though they cut like mad, you had rare shows being run on USA, Lifetime, HA, A&E, Nick at Nite, BET, TNT, Nostalgia and even the out of town feed for WOR ran some great stuff. Now about the only network worth a damn is American Life with a couple of decent westerns running on Encore. I don't get ALTV but I would gladly trade the 300 useless channels I have to get it.
