Two 50watt feeds and one 100watt feed are NOT the same. With 2 50 watt feeds each driver is only seeing the power for the frequencies allowed to pass by its crossover. So the tweeter might be seeing only 5 watts of the 50watts presented to its crossover and the mid/woofer might only be seeing 45 watts of the 50 watts presented to its crossover. With a single 100 watt feed the tweeter would be seeing 10 watts and the mid/woofer would be seeing the other 90. The amplifier is still producing the full range signal for each channel in a bi-amp situation, but the power being filtered by the crossovers is essentially lost.
