Actually, while I do recognize that there are problems with it, I've decided to break down and buy the DVD. I found a cheap copy of the 2 disc set, so I figure I'll get it. I can still enjoy the story and the performances.

If it plays here in the 70mm reissue, I'll still go see it.

w.r.t. The Lawrence 2-Disc DVD

As I mentioned yesterday in another thread, if you are DVD-ROM enabled, the "Archives of Arabia" feature is probably the coolest extra on the disc. It has information about the making of the film and the historical events upon which it is based corresponding to each "chapter" of the film on disc. It's not quite as comprehensive as, say, the Morris - Raskin "Official 30th Anniversary Pictorial History" (out of print but worth seeking out), but it has a lot more content and depth than the documentary.

Like the old cigarette ad, which declared "I'd walk a mile for a camel," this one is worth traveling several hundred miles to see in 70mm.
You are in for one of the great cinema experiences of a lifetime.

Hmmmm...OK, you have convinced me that I should probably try to see this "Desert Movie" in 70mm! :D
The anticipation is definitely going to drive me crazy!
