We got back yesterday from Baton Rouge...no significant damage, all the clocks were still set, so it looks like we also didn't lose power. We really dodged a bullet here around houston. But all along I-10 from Lake Charles to Beaumont looked pretty rough, I'm glad people in those areas responded well to the evacuation orders.
We have a shelter open here at my college with about 150 refugees. I passed by some New Orleans survivors talking to a native west Texan, asking about the climate, how much houses go for, etc.
"Yeah, Texas is a nice place. You should definitely consider relocating here. But man, watch out for those tornadoes!"
Their eyes got REALLY huge until he said he was joking, and then they all had a good laugh. Hah, that was great.
