Incredible trailer.

Looks like an Alien prequel to me, no matter how much
Ridley Scott refuses to acknowledge it.

Having just seen this once, and without freezing individual
frames and providing screenshots, I get quick glimpses of
what looks like eggs and the derelict spacecraft.

That was pretty neat. In my mind, I've managed to piece together a plot in my head that would be pretty cool - of course, doing so from a trailer means I'm "filling in the blanks" which, if Jurassic Park taught us anything, that doesn't always work out.

Regardless, I'm very intrigued, and will make a solid effort to see this in theaters (I maybe get to theaters 2-3 times a year).

I am very happy that Ridley Scott has returned to Sci-Fi. He
is so incredibly suited for that genre and I am certain I speak
for all his fans in saying that we are very excited about Prometheus.

Every generation has their great movie directors. I believe
the greatest directors of our generation include Scorsese,
Spielberg, Cameron and Scott. Whenever a movie is released
by any of these individuals it is almost certainly guaranteed to
be something extraordinary.

I remember a few years ago, while on the Fox lot at an HTF
meet, an executive whispered in my ear that Ridley Scott was
there and might be willing to meet with our group. In the end,
he ended up refusing to meet us, whether he was not interested
or just busy. I think about that moment often and how cool it
would have been for everyone in attendance had it happened.

In any event, I grabbed a few screenshots from the trailer
that seem to suggest a tie-in with the ALIEN film. Of course,
this is just fun speculation -- the kind of thing we are meant
to do with trailers -- but some of it seems dead-on accurate.

Could this be a floor of eggs?

Certainly looks to me like the Alien Space Jockey

The teaser and trailer were both really great. Nice the way they hightened tension at the end of each.Thats how you make a trailer!

Well done.

Look interesting and promising.

That floor shot has been in the previous trailers.
It was a floor covered with what looks more like jars lined up on the floor below a giant face .

imax trailer:
Ironic that the IMAX footage is only available at 360p.

I mostly want to see this to clear up any confusion(or create more). From the new trailer, that is absolutely the 'Space Jockey' from the first Alien film....well maybe not the one in 'Alien', but it is certainly the same species of alien.
I am not a a fan of Damon Lindelof at all, so it worries me that he co-wrote this movie. With his input I think we can expect more questions at the end of the movie rather than answers. And that is not something I want.

That IMAX trailer makes it even more obvious this is an ALIEN film.

Between the chest burst in the Space Jockey and the swinging tail,
all the tell-tale signs are there.

The chest section is closing onto the creature in this "chair".

Anyone know what the other writer has done?
Sorry about the double post.
According to the IMDB, he wrote The Darkest Hour which looked like a Roger Corman/Sy Fy Channel movie. In all fairness though, who knows if what he wrote came even close to being achieved onscreen. Given Ridley Scott's clout, I can imagine that he got a script that he and everyone else was happy with (and given that Damon Lindelof crafted one of the best TV shows ever made, I'm not too concerned about the script).

I will kill every single one of you and your families if it meant I got to see this thing right now.
I can't believe it's been so long since Ridley made a science fiction movie. After viewing these amazing new trailers, I want to murder anyone who might have previously influenced him away from the genre. At least this finally appears to be a prequel that we can all agree will likely be good. When someone says "All prequels suck!", this is all we will need as a rebuttal.
I'm beginning to think all the coyness regarding the "prequel/not-prequel" business was simply to separate it from the "Perils of Ellen Ripley"-perception of the Alien continuity. It's like trying to do a Terminator movie sans Arnie. You better come up with something that captures people's imagination before telling them that Big Movie Star X ain't gonna be in this one.
And Prometheus seems to be capturing imaginations like a motherfucker right now.
(...Ripley who?)
