I want to change my Proceed Pav/pvsd to another processor but want to keep the 5.1 in my theater. Would prefer one with HDMI switching. Any recommendation for a used under $2000 range?
Pick up an Integra DTC 9.8 as the new 9.9's are coming out soon and some people will undoubtedly be "upgrading" although in this case, it's not much of an upgrade...the 9.9 doesn't do that much more for $400 more. The 9.8 was available for $1600 which was a steal after using one for awhile now. You'll probably get one for like $1200, so spend the extra money on software!
I would agree that for the money the Integra DTC 9.8 is alot of bang for the buck. And it has everything from HDMI v1.3 inputs to ballanced XLR outputs and a Reon HQV video processor. And I am sure you could run it in 5.1 mode with no problem what so ever. But I would also consider using it in 7.1 so you can take full advantage of newer HD content mixed in 7.1 surround sound. And I believe that the 9.8 can be upgraded to Audyssey Pro.
I bet that the Proceed still sounds very good even today.
What is your budget and do you currently have HD capability or are you planning on having HD capability in the near future? I might be able to give you a few other options if I had a better idea what you would like to do with your HT?
I'll also suggest an Integra DTC 9.8. One of the highest rated products on the market for what it does. I have one myself, and have no intentions of upgrading, as there really isn't much improvement.
Dave, I have Hd Sat receiver and PS3 connected to the projector. I don't use proceed for video switching for these two devices. However the optical audio from PS3 does not sound as good as digital out from my rotel DVD player. Anything other than interga in $2000 (used)?
Not sure if I'm understanding this, but you will be able to get the Integra NEW for around $1600 max. Are you asking about a used piece of gear that performs better that you can get for $2K?
You could always get a Denon AVR-3808ci receiver which many people are using a a pre/pro. And in October Denon is going to have a program where for about $100 you can upgrade the 3808 and 4308 via the internet to Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume. And the 3808ci can be upgraded to Audyssey Pro for a price. And I hear you can pick the 3808ci as cheap as $1200 on the internet.
