Flip a coin between Dave Brubeck's "Time Out" and Vince Guaraldi Trio's "A Charlie Brown Christmas".

Born to Run

Probably my fave, start to finish. Bruce before he simplified the song structures, using lyrics that were a lot closer to Dylan than on later albums.

Geesh. Not one mention of anything by Led Zeppelin????

Well OK then, I'll do it.

Led Zeppelin II

Of course, I really have no favorite album, since there are quite few that I like for different reasons. I would include, however:

Abbey Road
Back in Black
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Rocks
Use you Illusion I&II

Humm.....I listed only one title that was made in the last 20 years. Cripes, am I a geezer or what?

Nominations on these polls do tend to be predicated on age of the listener.

Off the top of my head:

Symphonic: Vaughn Williams - Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis (Nimbus Records)

Pop/Rock/Whatever: Dire Straits - On Every Street

Both seem to end up in the player more often than others.

I'm realizing that my choice of favorite album, Born to Run, has as much to do with my whole history of experience with it as it does with the music itself: my first vinyl copy, with the great gatefold and the huge picture of Springsteen and Clarence, with the great 'new vinyl' smell; my first copy on CD; hearing the songs live for the first time.

Man, I miss the heyday of vinyl. Buying a new album felt like buying something really significant and... cool...

I'll stop now. :D

I can't decide between "Led Zeppelin I" and Queen "A Night at the Opera".

My decision on LZ-I would be based purely on the performance, ANATO I would base on the great lyrics and and incredible music.

Really hard for me, but I'll go for the ones I probably listened the most:

De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas by Mayhem

runners up:

Machine Head by Deep Purple
Physical Graffiti by Led Zep
Reign in Blood by Slayer

Just can't pick one:

Van Halen-1984
AC/DC-Back in Black
Motley Crue-Dr. Feelgood

For a change of pace:
Blackmore's Night-Shadow of the Moon. This absolutely pulls me out of reality and into another era.
