One of the things I like about MySpace is that it offers many artists a chance to connect with their fans. It's sort of cool that somebody could consider you enough of a fan to add you to their list.

Anyway, if you have a MySpace account, who are your most famous friends on there? The two on my list (as of right now) are singers Katie Melua and Kathleen "Bird" York. What about you?

    Sincerely,

    John Kilduff...

Additional question: If any of you have sent messages to the famous people in your friends section, have they ever responded?

Jenna Fischer of "The Office" and Fiona Apple are probably the top two.

This sorta doesn't count because I don't have a myspace account, but if I did I'd be famous friends with The Proclaimers and Barnes and Barnes (aka Bill Mumy and Robert Haimer) because we sorta know each other already. I have not exchanged emails with the Proclaimers because they don't even have computers; their manager runs the myspace page. I do exchange emails wth him on an occasional basis. And I have exchanged emails with both the Barnes boys.

Don't these "famous" people just have automated systems that accept you as a friend? I never liked the use of the word 'friend'.

    Yep.

There's some exceptions, though. Jason Mewes seems to run his own profile, and I've seen a few semi-famous bands and actors on there as well.

But largely, the only "celebrities" (and boy, do I ever use the term lightly here) I have seen manning their own MySpace sites are reality show has-beens. If you wanna befriend Real World camerafuckers and the like, then MySpace's for you.

Maybe. But, they said it long after Will Rogers originally said it.

I just started up a My Space page (actually for my website, not for myself), and it has been interesting going through, seeing what celebs are on there. A lot of musicians and comedians. But, many you can tell really aren't them, either a fake profile or run by a publicity firm. But others (like Zach Braff, and some of the comedians) really are posting their own info.

And, for HTF fans, the Criterion Collection is on My Space.

I'd think 99.99% of those claiming to be a celeb are indeed fakes...Seems like MySpace is a breeding ground for kooks and fakes.

Of course it's fake. I fully realize that he died...it was IN the movie(little Seinfeld/Amadeus reference there)

I just thought it was hilarious that someone started a myspace as Rocky Dennis.

John, Funny you mention Kathleen York. I am a huge fan of the show "Vengeance Unlimited". Two days ago I just got a signed photo back I sent her from the show. [IMG]

I don't belong to myspace. But, I do email on occasion...Ashleigh Kiser. Who plays Dolly on Deadwood.
