Everyone,

I've been thinking about picking up one of the new Onkyo TX-SR600's. I'm still kind of a newbie, so please be gentle. Couple of questions I would appreciate help on:

1) It's listed as having DD-EX?? Does this mean that it has matrix AND discrete? In fact, does DD-EX discrete even exist?? If so is the matrix version worth an upgrade over a 5.1 system since it's like a DPL center channel in the rear.

2) Are there many movies with a DTS-ES discrete soundtrack?

I've looked at the onkyousa.com website and read many of the posts on the forum and these things aren't exactly clear.

No, there is no such thing as a discrete center back channel in a Dolby Digital recording. Dolby Digital Surround EX is a 5.1 channel format with a center back channel matrixed into the two surround channels, decoded by what is essentially a Pro Logic decoder.
