I downloaded Java Runtime to facilitate the installation of Room EQ Wizard. In the “Add or Remove Programs” section my Control Panel, I see there are Java Runtime Upgrades 8, 9, 10, and 11. The four of these combined are taking up 500 MB of space. Do I need all four of them?

Regards,

That IS weird.

I just noticed the same thing and came here to see if anyone else had ever asked this question.

In my add/remove programs box I've got 5 updates for what looks like "Java 5" (JSE2 Runtime Environment 5.0) and five updates for "Java 6" (Java [TM] 6).

The most recent apparent upgrade for Java 5 is Upgrade 11. But the most recent upgrade for Java 6 is Upgrade 7.

Each of these is in the 114MB to 120MB range! Totaling 1GB of Java schtuff on my PC! Crazy.

Would I be correct in assuming, then, I can delete them all except for Java 6 Upgrade 7?!

Good to know. Thanks, Wayne!

I am in full agreement that it seems really strange that something as ubiquitous (and with a decent reputation) as Java doesn't either over-install or delete/install their upgrades.

Some programs are "certified" on a very specific version, so it is "safer" to just leave them. I would agree that as far as the "average consumer" goes, it is a waste of space, but those same people don't really know how to answer the question, "Is it safe to delete these old ones."
