PS3 HD Audio Setup? (1 Viewer)

So I just got a new receiver (the Pioneer VSX-1019) and I was immediately stunned by the audio quality when watching 5.1 HD movies on cable. However, when I got to playing a blu-ray through my PS3, the sound is decent enough, but not what I was expecting and not to the same quality as what I heard on TV. I have my PS3 set to LPCM as per what I read in the forums and have the correct format checked on the blu-ray menu. Does anyone know of a setting I might be overlooking that is degrading the sound quality?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not a PS3 owner. Is LPCM the same as "bitstream"? If not, then look for "bitstream" in the setup menu of the PS3. That might help? My Sony bdp 350 uses the term "direct", I think for bitstream.

The problem with the PS3 (non-slim) is that it cannot bitstream HD audio content. It has to be decoded internally and sent out using LPCM to the receiver.
