programming a cd/dvd player (1 Viewer)

hi friends, I bought a sony dvp-ns3oo cd/dvd player not too long ago. my wife accidentally threw out the manual. what I would like to know is, how do you program cd's to play only the cuts you want to hear? I've tried pushing the program button on the remote and all it does is go back to track 1. thanks in advance.
