Problems with Dolby Digital 4.0 (1 Viewer)

I have a Yamaha RX-V2300 receiver with a Yamaha DVD-S540 DVD player the problem is when i try to play a DVD encoded with DD 4.0 it plays no sound i have to physically have to go into the DVD player setup and change my digital audio output to PCM instead of ALL and when i want to watch movies in DD 5.1 or DTS i have to change it back. Has anyone else encountered this problem and if so is there a way around it????

DD 4.0 is pretty uncommon. What titles are you having problems with?

Mainly English comedy titles. but i have no such problems on my supposedly inferior cheaper Sony setup in my bedroom.
