Is there any way to view the serial number for my Onkyo TX-NR717 onscreen? I'm sure there's not, but figured I'd ask just in case. I'm just trying to avoid having to pull my unit out to find it on the back. I know--I should have written it down before I installed it, but was too excited to get it hooked up.

Do you still have the original Onkyo box it came in? Sometimes manufacturers put the serial number on the box as well.

Thanks, tried that. It is a refurb from A4L and had no 16-digit number on the box.

I used my cell phone video to get behind my receiver. I found a sticker that said it was a refurbished unit and had 717R506705 on it. That looks like a S/N to me. Anyone agree? I could see nothing else on the back of the receiver that even remotely resembled a serial number.

PS--I don't know where I got the impression it was supposed to be a 16-digit number.

Your receipt should have the serial number. That way they'd know if you tried to return a different one than the one you bought.

The first thing I do when I get a new piece of equipment is write down the serial number, no matter how excited I am. Saves a whole lot of grief later.
