I would like to know what everyone's top 5 favorite dvd's are and why you think so. I'm looking for reasons such as picture quality, sound, special features, etc. I'm a fairly new collector so I only have around 50 in my collection. These would be favorite dvd's not movies. Fav's would be:
1)The Usual Suspects SE
2)Tombstone Vista Series
3)From Hell SE (The sound was awesome in this movie)
4)Memento Limited Edition (I really enjoy all the extras on this one. I also enjoy the case)
5)Terminator 2 Ultimate Edition (3 different versions of the movie...need I say more)

A close runner up would be The Royal Tenenbaums Criterion. All these dvds listed are region 1. I hope to expand to other regions soon thats one reason for this thread.

Thanks

Does quality of the film itself have any bearing on the rankings? I think you would find 2 completely different lists if you take into account whether you actually enjoy the movie or not.
My list (not taking film rating into account):

Toy Story 1 & 2: Ultimate Toy Box
Memento LE
Se7en: Platinum Series
Fight Club
Saving Private Ryan (DTS)

My reasons: All but SPR have incredible extras - the other 4 are all are 2 (3 in the case of Toy Story) disc sets. All 5 have great picture quality, as well as sound (especially SPR). Se7en has, IMO, the best extras of any DVD. I love the behind the scenes of transfering a DVD, and the actual comparison of the old transfer to the new one.

1) Independence Day
2) SW EP1
3) U-571
4) Gladiator
5) The Mask of Zorro

The Third Man - Damn good restoration and excellent extras. My favorite movie.
Dracula (1931) - The Lugosi classic with terrific extras including an optional score by Philip Glass AND the complete Spanish language version which was filmed simultaneously with a different cast and crew - a real treat!
Citizen Kane - The greatest movie of all time, nicely restored with two very good commentaries and a superb documentary.
Immortal Beloved - Another favorite of mine that features a pretty good transfer and extras.
Chicken Run - Same as above.

My top five DVD's:
1. SUPERMAN THE MOVIE-for the stellar presentation of this great film, and lots of great extras.
2. FRANKENSTEIN(1931)-The best this film has ever looked, and the extras are superb. A nod to the other Universal Classic Monster DVD's as well.
3.STAR WARS EPISODE ONE-A good enough transfer(for me at least), incredible sound, and the best documentary on the making of a film I've ever seen.
4.NORTH BY NORTHWEST-Just a beautiful transfer in every way.
5.MOULIN ROUGE!-Beautiful transfer and extras, and a very rewatchable film.
Soon to be added:LORD OF THE RINGS, SPIDERMAN and ATTACK OF THE CLONES!:)

4.Diana Krall Live In Paris - This dts track sounds sooooooooo good.
5.Brazil The Criterion Collection - What more can be said about this 3 disc set. Only drawback is this dvd is not anamorphic.
