Hi, my name is Dave Barth

My favorite film is The Apartment

The (recent) film I hate the most is Coyote Ugly

The director I think is most over-rated is Kevin Smith; his writing is good, but his directorial style is very uninteresting

The director I think is most under-rated is (this is hard so I'll pick a highly regarded one who I think still don't think gets enough credit) Krzysztof Kieslowski, or maybe Lubitsch (once I see more of his work), or perhaps Buñuel

I have no idea why [no answer] is considered a "classic" film

I am ambivalent about Kevin Costner
I am ambivalent about Tom Cruise
I like Julia Roberts but not many of her films
I respect Edward Norton
I respect Russell Crowe's acting

I like Gladiator
I like Titanic

I appreciate Stanley Kubrick but he is not one of my favorite directors
I have only seen one film by Spike Lee

The best thing about Hometheaterforum is the film knowledge of the more knowlegable members

The poster I agree/sympathize/concur with most often is Dave Barth, myself

I believe that Hometheaterforum is sometimes better, sometimes worse, usually depending on the films and DVDs, and directors being discussed. To give a concrete example, I would be very happy to read less praise of Jackson and less criticism of Lucas. While I would tend to praise Jackson and criticize Lucas myself, at some point it is simply noise filling the forum; everyone's mind is made up, and further discussion just decreases the signal to noise ratio. Ditto the repetitive "Is Criterion overrated?" posts.

Hi, My name is Matthew Pelham
My favorite film is Pulp Fiction
The film I hate most is Salo
Most over-rated director: Kevin Smith or Wes Craven
Most under-rated director: Two years ago I would have answered Sam Raimi or Peter Jackson, but now I don't really have an answer!
I have no idea why The Seventh Seal is considered a classic film.
I usually stay clear of movies starring Kevin Costner.
I respect and admire Tom Cruise.
I enjoy watching but wish I'd see less of Julia Roberts.
I think it's "new agent time" for Edward Norton.
I enjoyed and was satisfied by Gladiator.
I was initially entertained and impressed, but an now slightly annoyed by Titanic.
I like the performances of Russell Crowe.
I enjoy several movies made by Stanley Kubrik.
I like a select few films by Spike Lee.
The best thing about HomeTheaterForum is that's is's the most mature and well-moderated forum out there, with great quantities of info and a generally civil atmostphere.
The poster I agree with most is probably Seth Paxton.
I belive that HomeTheaterForum is getting better all the time.

What is this for, anyway?
Hi, my name is Vickie_M.
My favorite film is Brazil.
The film I hate the most is (none, I don't think that way).
The director I think is most over-rated is (none, I don't think that way).
The director I think is most under-rated is Terry Gilliam (and Walter Murch).
I have no idea why (none, I don't think that way) is considered a "classic" film.
I think Kevin Costner has done good work.
I wish Tom Cruise weren't a scientologist.
I like Julia Roberts, but only a few of her movies.
I think Edward Norton is a great actor.
I was entertained by the movie Gladiator and appalled by the true-life situations.
I liked Titanic and think the bashing it gets is juvenile.
I have the utmost respect for Russell Crowe and think he's one of the best actors alive.
I think Stanley Kubrick is one of the greatest directors ever.
I like and respect Spike Lee and have since She's Gotta Have It.
The best thing about Hometheaterforum is the eclectic forums and intelligent posters, and the moderation.
The poster I agree/sympathize/concur with most often is Seth Paxton, especially when it comes to the Academy Awards.
I believe that Hometheaterforum is a good place to be, even though I violently disagree with some of the posters and posting styles.

Hi, my name is look to the left.
My favorite film is Dude, Where's my Car?
The Film I hate the most is 2001: a space odyssey (crappy special effects and almost no chicks)
The director I think is the most overrated is Stanley Kubrick
The director I think is the most underrated is Brent Ratner.
I have no idea why Citizen Kane is considered a classic film.
I feel that the only film actor that rivals Marlon Brando is Kevin Costner.
I think Nicole Kidman lost a good man in Tom Cruise.
I am appalled at the pitiful acting range of Edward Norton.
I'm utterly blown away by the impressive and coherent editing in Gladiator.
I think the blueprint for screenwriting and acting was born with Titanic
I think that the mold for a responsible, mature human being was broken when they made Russell Crowe.
I repeat that Brent Ratner is a genius compared to the overrated, simple-minded hack that is Stanley Kubrick.

I believe that nobody is as open-minded and racially sensitive as Spike Lee.
The best thing about HTF is that sarcasm is only lost on a few of us.
The poster I agree with most often is Rain - because he's seen every movie ever made.
I believe that HTF is getting better all the time because it allows everyday shmoes like me a place to pontificate about movies! :emoji_thumbsup:

Hi, my name is Brook K.
My favorite film is Taxi Driver.
The film I hate the most is Malena.
The director I think is most over-rated is David Fincher.
The director I think is most under-rated is Preston Sturges
I have no idea why Breakfast At Tiffany's.
I think Kevin Costner is sometimes good as long as he isn't directing.
I like Tom Cruise.
Julia's ok.
I loved Norton in The People Vs. Larry Flynt but he hasn't impressed me that much in anything else.
Gladiator had a couple of "cool" scenes, the story was flat and pathetically conceived.
I liked Titanic.
Crowe is ok.
I love every Stanley Kubrick film I've seen and he's my 2nd favorite director.
I think Spike is highly talented and underrated as a director though he's made several films I don't care for. Do The Right Thing is a masterpiece and it is unfortunate it is rarely if ever mentioned on any "great film" lists.
The best thing about Hometheaterforum is it gives me people to talk movies with.
The poster I agree/sympathize/concur with most often is Rich Malloy, Rain, SteveGon, just to name a few.
I believe that Hometheaterforum is like Cheers, a place where everybody knows your name.
