Since both cost about $999 looking for opinions about which to choose. Have 7.2 speaker setup with Jamo thx certified speakers in main room with Samsung 3d blu ray and Oppo 93 blu ray, Dish, and Wii in main room with Panasonic ae4000 projector in a 20 x 40 foot room and speakers outside in second zone. Currently have Onkyo 606 which does not support 3d

The SC65 is "last years". The NR828 might not have HDMI upconversion for your Wii.

I have yet to check on that feature on the X2X models. It appeared, early on, the 525+ were no longer going to have it. Yet, Amazon shows it appearing on the 626+ if looking at the 828. If you change to the 525, then the feature "disappears" on the 727 and everything under.

Obviously Amazon is wrong somewhere. Onkyo's current webpage(they've recently made it over), using Kaspersky, is killed for "malicious malware".

I would advise checking into that...otherwise I would ignore the 828 and pick up the 818...

As it definitely does have HDMI upconverion for your Wii.

Lastly, nobody I've talked to is "in love" with the new X2X line like they were with the X1X.

One other benefit to the 818 is it has Multi XT32, where the 828 just has EQ. Apparently the "new" 929 is the 818 replacement...not the 828.

Decided to go with pioneer sc65 from local dealer at better price. Cooler running and a lot better features minus the WiFi and built in Bluetooth Sent from my Nexus 7 using Home Theater Forum mobile app
