Hello everyone,

After almost a year of buying and waiting and more buying and waiting, it's done. I still have to put the glass doors on the EC, but I couldn't wait to take pics.

If there are any pics you'd like me to take, I'll do that. These are general pics...what I'd want to see about your HT anyway.

BTW, I built those stands the M22Ti's are on. I'm pretty proud of them. They are filled with sand and weigh about 20 pounds each. They have spikes on the bottom and rubber feet on the top so the speaker doesn't slide around. Very solid stands.

Monitor - Sony Trinitron 32" (using S-Video in)
Receiver - Denon 3803
DVD - Samsung P421
VCR - Hitachi #-something (it plays tapes, I'm happy)
CD Changer - Sony 335
Power Management - Panamax 5100
L/R - Axiom M22ti
Center - Axiom VP150
Surrounds - Axiom QS-8
Subwoofer - SVS PB2-Plus

Interconnects/Cables
Sound King 12 gauge for all speakers
Bananna plugs for front three and all connections at amp
Acoustic Research/Monster Cable interconnects

That about covers it, I think.

The Sony has worn well and still looks GREAT. It holds it's calibration nicely. But, it's only 32" and it has no component inputs. :frowning: I have no plans to upgrade to a better CRT...unless a stupid Hot Deal falls into my lap....Like, say a 36" WEGA XBR for about $1000 or so.

This will do for now...I keep telling myself that.

Very nice mike Lots of good equipment and those speaker stands came out great! Good job with the wiring too, I am currently organizing all the cables behind my A/V system, isolating power cords, using velcro ties to shorten up long wires, Ect. Anyway very nice setup and everything looks great together, enjoy it!


EDIT: O BTW let me know how you like your Axioms, mainly the M22's. I am considering buying fronts, surrounds and a center from them (already have a good sub ). Probably M22's for fronts, QS4 for surrounds and the VP100 center. This package would cost just under 1,000 (my budget) and I think it's a great deal, as I have heard nothing but great things about Axiom and their speakers. Of course I probably will not be able to buy new speakers until this time next year, so Axiom may have new models out by then, but we shall see.

Thanks guys; the kind words are appreciated.

You guys know what's involved w/setting up a brand-new theater; all the bundling and running of wires. Hookup, testing, calibration. WHEEW! I'm glad it's done.

So far, so good. The VP150 is a mutha of a center channel. It's smooth and powerful at the same time. The best compliment I can give is that you don't know it's there. The on-screen action is so firmly anchored there that you don't "hear" the speaker, you "hear" the movie.

The SVS....whoa. It's just a BEAST.

I thought I knew what sub-bass was; nope. My old sub, Cerwin-Vega LW15 produced bass more in the "heard" than "felt" region. The SVS moves my intestines around before I realize there's sound there too!

I haven't done much critical listening w/music yet, but so far the M22/SVS duo seem a match made in heaven.

I think the M22s need a little toe-in though. I may mess w/that later.

How do you like your QS-8's up in the corners like that? I have a difficult room and was considering using those surrounds.

Thanks for sharing the pics--looks good. I had that exact entertainment center as well before I got an RPTV.

Have you tried pulling the front speakers out farther in front of the EC? It should improve the imaging and if you pull them out enough, it should make the center and fronts equidistant to the listening position, so you don't have to rely as much on digital delay. I remeber it making quite a difference, especially for two-channel listening.

Hi guys,

1. I haven't tried moving the M22s at all yet. They are right where i put them when I set it all up. I will give it a shot, though.

2. I've only had the system up and running for a few days now, but the QS8s seem fine up in the corners like that. The ceiling above the left surround is a lot higher than the ceiling above the right; so to get them even, the right one had to be up in the corner like that. I'm not real happy that the surrounds are not equidistant from the listening position, but delay can help w/that.

3. Thanks for the compliments on the stands!!!! They are my first attempt and I busted my butt working on them. The top/bottom are two pieces of 3/4" MDF glued together, than cut to size w/a tablesaw and the edges routed with a router. Sanded by hand, and painted with two coats of gray primer and three coats of black gloss paint. The pipe is 4" PVC and there's a 5/8" threaded rod/nuts/washers holding it all together. Additionally, the top/bottom are siliconed on as well to prevent sand leakage. They do not leak, not even one grain of sand. Spikes on the bottom.

Great to see a fellow Axiomite! Nice looking setup. I too have a 32" tv with no component inputs. Like you, I've been ready for an upgrade for about the last 2 years!

I'm saving my money and holding out for a 1920x1080 DLP set. They should be hitting the market early next year.

...of course that means I'll need a new player as well to take advantate of my killer tv. It never ends does it?

Exactly what I was thinking. Time to experiment a tad with positioning.

I've gotta say though those Axiom on their stands look killer. Really, really nice. And, that sub is a brute. You'd never know if it was standing by itself, but positioned next to the speaker really gives a perspective.

I'm jealous at how neat your room is, that is until Scott gets salsa stains all over the carpet.

He already has a Panamax power conditioner Where do you guys see this extra shelf anyway? Above the receiver? I think it would be best to leave that space open so the receiver has room to breathe.
