One title that keeps popping up is Fright Night. Hard to believe Sony isn't interested in re-releasing the original on Blu-ray with a remake coming up.

Kiss me Kate is Warner bros' MGM catalogue.

Oliver! is Columbia-British/Sony

I understand Disney has been or have finished 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea for BD along with the Selznick 1937 A Star is Born(rights thru their ABCTV acquistion).

Promoting an earlier version of a title remade at the same time as that new version is playing is not always a wise move financially.

Going through most of these posts, I didn't recognize any that are already out...or even announced.
can you please list the titles that have been announced, or are currently available?

Thank you.

We know that TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, TRUE LIES, THE ABYSS, the INDIANA JONES films and THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE are coming in 2012 and MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL is due later this year. TORA TORA TORA is also coming (already out in UK). CHARADE and MASH are already available in the US. For what it's worth, several titles mentioned are available or announced in the UK and Europe.

Anthony, how eactly do we "know" that TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD is coming out in 2012? It was in a list for release for this year, along with THE BIRDS, but there was nothing official. I think this is a wait-and-see thing.

Most of this information comes from thedigitalbits.com: http://www.thedigitalbits.com/mytwocentsa194.html#060411 Of course, without official confirmation, it's all subject to change. But it does mean that - alongside THE BIRDS- it's at some stage of production. We should probably use our precious votes here to create pressure for titles we've heard nothing about. So we should also add : SINGIN' IN THE RAIN and all remaining Bond movies due in 2012. THE CONVERSATION due 2011. DICK TRACY confirmed by Beatty. THE LAST WALTZ already available in US, as well as THE LAST PICTURE SHOW (as part of Criterion's BBS set).

I'm enjoying this list of titles but I can't imagine the major studios releasing anything on Blu that hasn't already been issued on DVD. Recycling seems to be the mandate.

The Last Picture Show was released as part of the America Lost and Found: The BBS Story set from Criterion. Now if Frank means that he'd like to see a single disc release, then I guess it still counts. Lots of fine choices in this thread. I'd purchase most of them if they ever see the light of day. - Walter.

OK, I screwed up with Oliver! I thought it was MGM, my bad. I have changed it to my runner-up, The Great Escape. Also changed The Conversation to The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance since Conversation is apparently already in the pipeline.
