I believe that the "previously unseen footage" refers to behind-the-scenes footage. And even if that was on LD, it's "previously unseen" on DVD. And if not that, then maybe it's the "previously unseen.....er unheard" audio clips used in the commentary.

I'm fairly certain that the phrase, albeit misleading, is not referring to restored scenes from the movie itself.
