I have the chance to upgrade my HCA-855A for an HCA-2205 A. It's really just a 2 hour drive each way. Now obviously it seems like a no brainer, but will there really be a difference going from 125wpc to 300wpc? (4Ω speakers)

Vandersteen 2Ce bi-amped
M&K 750 thx center and rear single channel each, rears driven by a Pioneer VSX-32

The M&K are much more efficient, rated like 93 db vs. the Vandersteen rated at 86

I would do it since, at least, it levels the playing field a tad. The Van's need around 4 times the power for the same volume. So, now...the gains can be re-set and you'll be able to actually use the power of the VSX32.

Ok, so I'll drive up and get it.

I have already tested the power of the Pioneer VSX-32 and the Parasound 855, and he Parasound puts out almost four times the power of the Pioneer receiver. Using two channels of either amp to the Vandersteens, the Parasound 855 can bring out about 5 db more volume and does is cleaner at higher volumes compared to the Pioneer receiver. 2x220 oout of that HCA-2205a will be a lot of power
