My apartment is white and I'm going to have to runner speaker wires across the ceiling.

Is it safe to paint the wires? What kind of paint should I use?

Are there any precautions I need to take?

Thanks,
Jay

yes. I might try a small part first to make sure there arent strange reactions with the wire insulation or something.

Get wire that specifies that it has a paintable jacket and you will have no problem.

Interior Latex should not have any effect on the speaker wire insulation. How long it sticks is another matter, but if it will not be flexed or moved after it is painted, you should have no problems. I have about 15 feet of one rear surround painted the same colour as my wall as I ran it along the top of my baseboard rather than under it. Has been fine for a year.

I think that if you color the wire with a green magic marker, your CDs will sound much better. Freezing the CDs also makes them sound better. :D
