I had a priceless moment over the weekend.....

At a party, sitting at the table with a group of friends. Many of
them are those I recommended buy the iPhone only a year prior.

They are all sitting around playing with their iPhones. Must have
been at least 4 iPhones at that table.

I pull out my Galaxy Note II. Everyone's eyes light up.

The conversation turns to a classic Saturday Night Live clip
of "schweady balls" featuring Alec Baldwin. One of the iPhone
5 owners tries to play the clip for everyone on his iPhone. People
are now huddled around the table, squinting at the screen and trying to
hear the audio. One guy has to put the phone to his ear because he
can't hear the dialogue. Of course, this prevents him from even
    watching the video.

I bring it up on my Galaxy Note II. Much easier for everyone
    to see and hear.

By the end of the night, the entire table is talking about upgrading
    to the Galaxy Note II.

But but but... I thought Android owners were going to buy iPhones because of the fragmentation and malware!

No one goes from the perfect user experience on the iPhone to a buggy Android phone. This just doesn't happen!

Besides, those screens are too big! No one will want a screen over 3.5" -- that's the perfect size!

I think the Iphone is losing its cachet. Once people really start comparing features and don't buy something simply because it's "cool" to do so, Iphone sales will plummet.

iPhone sales will keep rising in terms of units sold, but market share will remain steady at 15%-17% because the smartphone market is constantly growing as features phones are traded in for smartphones. There are also markets in China and India and Brazil that are developing, and the iPhone still has enormous cachet there.

Note that 15%-17% is much better than Mac share when Windows was ruling the PC market. But the iPhone will not take over the world like some people thought. Samsung is going for market share while Apple goes for profit, and you can only have both in the short span when you're the only game in town. This is the same reason why Android tablets will eclipse the iPad family by the end of next year.

I knew the iPhones have lost their coolness factor when my company started handing them out for corporate email access devices. I was assigned one, and I still haven't moved off from my venarable Blackberry to set up the new iPhone. :)
Ron, you should have, in your lowest octave voice, said "Excuse me, while I whip this out."

Riffing on movie scenes, how about 'That's not a phone. This is a phone"
    Yeah, I know a bit obvious. :)

Today was the fourth or fifth time someone saw my Note 2 and asked, "Is that the iPad Mini"?

Sure, it's the biggest phone on the market right now, but it's not THAT big. Either that or they think the iPad Mini is half the size it really is.

That's the biggest misconception about the Note II...

    It's too big.

However, everyone that starts using it quickly realizes
    that the size is perfect.

No problems carrying it in my pocket nor using it in my hand.

This is by far the best phone I have ever owned.
