I am moving into a new house and needed an amp to power my setup due to a larger room (14x19 which leads right into an open kitchen of 10x17). I plan to upgrade my speakers in the near future, but my current set up consists of 4 RTi28's and a CSi30 center.

My question is would the amp pushing 200 watts put my bookshelfs in danger? I have heard varying opinions on amp power. Some say that speakers can handle double the recommended watts without a problem and some say that the power can damage them over time. The polks have a recommended amp power of 25 to 125. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ryan

Unless you turn it up to "11" it won't be a problem. The speakers can only handle exactly what they are rated for, however you aren't actually USING that much power to drive them 90% of the time, which is why it is generally not a problem.
