Hello all I have a question. I own the Onkyo TXDS 797 Reciever and I love it. No problems with it all. Now I hear the big thing is 7.1 but my reciever is 6.1. I want to upgrade to 7.1. My question is:
1.Can I do it with the 797?
2.Is it really any difference from 6.1?
3.Should I just buy the new TXSR800 that is 7.1 already?
Thanks guys in advance

Najib_H,
All you need to do to go 7.1 on the 797 is to get a 2 ch. stereo amp and use the pre-outs on the 797 for the left and right surround backs. Make sure you go into the setup menu and select 2 surround back channels. It is pretty easy. I used to run a separate 5 ch. amp when i had the 797. I used 3 channels for the front 3 and the other 2 for the surround backs.

Your system may be fine the way it is as long as the back surround speaker has proper imaging and the sound doesn't seem to come from the front center.
