I seem to be stuck in a '70s time warp so I'll add a nomination for Dirty Mary Crazy Larry.
Kinda disappointed that no one is showing the love for Vanishing Point - the quintessential car film from the '70s, IMHO. Oh well.
Vickie - I was lucky enough to see Kiss or Kill theatrically and thought that the scenes featuring the Australian outback benefited from the big screen presentation.
- Walter.
Edited to fix the title of Dirty Mary Crazy Larry. I always get the names reversed when I think of this title.
Ok, I'll second: Great Race, The Vanishing Point And third: Wild at Heart* Cannonball Run, The* Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas* Getaway, The (1972)* Hitcher, The*
Vanishing Point is probably the most existential of the 'car' films from the '70s, with a fine, understated performance from Barry Newman. ( One of the pleasures of The Limey was seeing Newman behind the wheel again in the Mercedes chase sequence. )
Only need 7 more Wild Cards. My plan is to get this tourney on the road tonight at 8:30 p.m. Pacific Time. I still see several worthy choices like Joy Ride, Two-Lane Blacktop, Near Dark, Vanishing Point, The Wraith, and Cannonball Run II, still needing support.
