Older sony A/ V receiver. STR SN1000 (1 Viewer)

Actually it is a DN 1000.. I type horribly. Just bought it and would like to hook it up to my monitor. I do not have a TV and all of the controls are only visible by seeing them on a screen. . I have contacted Sony and got the same service tech the rest of you got. Mr. I Know Nothing. So I am looking for a bit of assistance from the pros... you. My monitor is a Gateway and has HDMI connectors. My thanks in advance. Mike

What is your question? Your sony should handle hdmi fine.

Thanks for your note. Nope, it won't hook up to monitor unless I install a different video card. After two hours with CS I got nowhere, but they answered a written note. The thing about this receiver is that all of the controls are only visible on a TV. This purchase was a bust. I am not going to try to hook up a 5.1 Denon which possibly will actually have even better sound.
