I'm with Dan Hitchman. The next step should be for quality and not quantity. No compression or MLP (or any lossless compression) in movie sound would be cool.

If they keep adding speakers to the setup, pretty soon I will be sitting on speakers because there won't be any room left.... I have a 6.1 receiver, but I am only using 5.1 right now. I already don't have a spot for the rear center(s). Still sounds good to me.

There is DTS' new "DTS 96/24" format using existing DVD players and special decoders in the A/V receiver (some just released by Pioneer and Denon) which I believe gives 96kHz/24-Bit performance to all channels.
