Well, I have seen the teaser and full trailer for this one and I am left with a faint hope that this may actually be a worthwhile horror movie. On some levels, this seems like it could be a very bad and cliche slasher movie. However, some aspects of the trailers and the official web site give me hope. Has anyone seen an early screening of this or hear any feedback about it yet? Lets hope that someone has actually come up with a good, scary film.

This movie premiered a a film festival in Germany last month. There are several comments from the people that saw it at IMDB. See the Link Removed .
The only person I recognize in the film is the guy that plays the goofy school kid on the TV show Ed. The director was at the helm for the movie Powder. Though I forget the exact details, I remember an uproar some time back because he was charged with possessing child porn or some other lurid accusation.
One thing I did notice from downloading the trailer and freeze framing...Spoiler:The killer actually looks like some kind of monster instead of the typical "townie" that's been wronged.
In any case, I usually avoid the teen slasher flicks until they hit DVD, but I think this one's worth a look. I'll probably see it next weekend.

It is a monster definitely. What kind of man do you know of that has wings? This movie looks totally awesome and I cannot wait till next Friday when I get to FINALLY see it! It could very well turn out to be the best horror film of the year!

No, no... The Others is already one of the worst films of the year... it cant be the greatest horror film of the year. :)
Jeepers Creepers could be great fun or could be a crappy '80s horror reject. I'm leaning towards the crappy '80s horror reject, but I hope I'm wrong. I would love to see a good horror movie released now.

Actually he's a convicted child molester.

I have heard they are already planning a trilogy, saying that the story/ideas presented has a lot of potential for numerous sequels.(reported on Cinescape about 2 weeks ago)

Matthew, just curious, but have you seen The Others? It's great! And I might add very critically acclaimed.

Oh yeah! Matthew saw it alright! I think he was quoted as saying along the lines of it being a piece of sh*t horror movie. But don't quote me on it! :)
I added Matthew's quote on the 2001 list page
quote: Instead of seeing Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back again, I went to see The Others (now added to my list)... and can we all say: predictible piece of crap?
Like The Sixth Sense back in 1999, it has a great cast and a creepy atmosphere... but the film is paced too slow, has little (or no) scares (with ghost movies, you should expect quite a bit of scares... I hated What Lies Beneath, but at least I jumped out of my seat every now and then), and if you were paying attention, you know what happens at the end within the first hour.[/quote]
Don't worry Matthew, I wasn't that found of The Others[liked the secret end, scares & that's about it!) and I hated, hated What Lies Beneath :)

This actually does look like an interesting film though, but I just hope it's not yet another friggen teen flick like every other horror film, except The Others, has been this year, or every year since Scream made it fasionable once again to make bad "horror" movies.
And am I nuts or did they get the title for this movie from listening to 'Velma' from 'Scooby Doo' speak?

Is anyone else annoyed by the latest issue of Fangoria? The monster's face not only takes up the front cover, but there are several revealing shots of it inside as well. I'm looking forward to this flick, but I wish Fango hadn't spoiled part of it for me!

JC was incredible. I haven't seen such a confident and accomplished horror film in ages. There were so many great elements in it. The camera work was perfect, and they used my favorite Spoiler:a long shot showing action in the background. I recommend. Maybe I'll review after I see it again.

Well, The Others does exist, but Jeepers Creepers IS the best horror film of the year just as I expected! This film was just so great! Can't wait for the DVD!!! I also must mention that I think Gina Philips is totally gorgeous.

Oh man was Jeepers Creepers great. I've been trying to write a review, but am having trouble doing so without spoilers. There was a little too much sibling bantering in the beginning, and not enough gore at the end, but overall I'm very pleased with the film and will definitely be seeing it again, something I haven't done in a long time.

Um, what movie were you all watching? I went to see this movie last night, and between my thoughts, and the audiences reactions, this movie blew it hard. The movie should have been called "Stupid, Dumbass". There was so much Velveeta dripping off this garbage it wasn't even funny.
The acting was about as bad as it gets (gee, could the lead character keep his mouth closed for one minute? That thing was hanging open the whole time!). The story was horrible, and the dialogue was just bad (how stupid can one person be?). And don't even let me start about that horrible ending. Now, don't get me wrong, I do love the occassional cheese flicks (I love Tremors!), but come on, this was just terrible! I wound up giggling the whole time at this movie. The car they were driving was the biggest piece of crap, and what I don't get, it was her own damn car, and she didn't know how to drive a standard! And yes, I know she had problems with the transmission (was that before or after she grinded the gears down to a smooth surface!!), but damn, that was just plain stupid.
Oh well, this movie will be on DVD next week probably. :) Word of mouth is going to shut this crap down.
Chris
