You too ,eh?
Mine is sitting in an airport a little over an hour away. It has been since 5:18 a.m. And UPS has "rescheduled" delivery for Monday.
Hacks me off. I'd be more hacked if my component cables were shipping earlier than next week, though. . .

I should be picking mine up on Sunday as well, along with Wave Racer and Luigi. I foolishly ordered Rouge Leader from EB, thinking it would be here today along with Metal Gear. Alas, I won't see it `till Monday. I'm thinking about picking it up on Sunday and sending EB's game back. But since I paid for it, I'd be out $50 until they refunded it to me. Decisions, decisions ...

I just got my Gamecube. IT is so tiny. Waverace is great. Its just like I remember on 64. Im going to play Luigis in 5 minutes. I also have Star Wars, but no 480p component cables :-(
I played Madden and I like it better than my X-box version. The game plays fast and has a constant frame rate whereas my X-box (using 480p) plays slower and has some frame rate hiccups when passing. The X-box version looks better though. Does anyone know if the 480p is the reason why the X-box version slightly slows down?

Anyone know why Nintendo is releasing the Gamecube on a Sunday?

Tradition? The N64 launched in the USA on a Sunday too, I believe. It's a strange move - certainly, it's new to me. One suggestion someone made to me was that it's so kids can snap it up as well as adults - kids are at school during the week, so can't queue up for it.
Of course, you could take that as a statement of bias on the view of the GC being for kids, PS2/XBox for adults

My UPS Tracking # showed the same: RESCHED... but not anymore. It changed from the 19th to today. And, I just got a call from my wife. It has been delivered at 10:20am. 2 friends of mine at work here, also got it today as well, all from EB.com

Actually, I believe N64 launched on 9-26-96, which was a Thursday.
They're launching GCN on a Sunday strictly to irritate me. I'm sure of it. :)

Going to Best Buy quite often, I can attest that Saturdays tend to be the day most people are in there. Why not release GCN on Saturday? Just curiousity, I know we'll never know the answer (unless some Nintendo rep posts here).

What's wierd is that my bundle from ebgames.com shipped via FedEx. Everyone else's seems to be shipped via UPS. Wierd huh?
Have fun with your Gamecube fellas, and ladies!! :)

Anyone else dissapointed that there isn't going to be a Pilot Wings for the Gamecube? I loved that game when they released it with the N64.
Of course WaveRace will make me forget about that!
Oh, and I just called my EB... they said they won't release till Sunday because they'll get fined and Nintendo would pull out all there systems... sounds like corporate BS to me.
[Edit] Forgot to mention they have about 6 or 7 Xboxes just sitting there... was so tempted but I have to buy xmas presents... will have to wait.

If anyone's kept up with the Cube modification they will know my situation. Ok so I put an e-mail to NCS earlier today asking them that if re-stock of Rogue Leader failed to show today, just send out my cube, s-video and memory card today and I will get the game here in the UK.
They informed be their re-stock of RL is delayed until tuesday now so they said they will (I HOPE!) send out the rest of my order today. This now leaves me trying to find a place that will get me the game for Monday or Tuesday, takes Amex, will ship to an alternate address and has it in stock!

Horay, mine has officialy shipped. Ordered Rogue Leader for a silly price under the assumption the place in the UK I ordered it from actually has it in stock... Ugh, hope to god they do.

I swear this ties into the Gamecube release, but I'll deviate from the thread briefly and share my last Nintendo new system story.
When the N64 was released, the store I ordered it from called me the day prior to the official release date, telling me my system had arrived.
I picked up my system, then went work while it sat at home. Then after work, I ended up going up to SF at the last minute (instead of going home), working a rave/thingie until 5:30 AM. I got home and just collapsed next to the unopened box. :) Ah yes, then those initial nights of being really high (on life, of course) and playing Mario64, tripping out on the gorgeous 3D worlds.
I have long since begun the steady march into what some call 'adulthood,' and yet this weekend I may be one of those poor souls, camped in front of Target with bedhead and a sweaty ticket in my palm at 7 AM while the churchgoers drive by wondering what poor demon has possessed my soul.
Damn you, Nintendo!!

Well, I managed to snag a copy of Super Monkey Ball today.
Guys, I'm serious about this. When you get your Gamecubes, be sure to pick up a copy of this game along with Rogue Leader and whatever other games you get. This has got to be one of the most addictive and fun games I've played in a while. Once you get into it, you will love it. Hell, you might not even want to play Rogue Leader much once you do. It's that addictive.

Super Monkey Ball is the only launch title I plan on picking up.
Rogue Leader does not do it for me at all.

Just got 'mine' (working in a vid store has its perks) and I plan on taking it home for the weekend to make sure it's good to go.
wink.gif
Star Wars, Luigi's Mansion, Monkey Ball, Waverace, friends, and booze. What a Friday nite.
biggrin.gif

Of course, after playing the Cube for the weekend it's going to take all my willpower to stay home Sunday and save money. (Any hope of having the $$$ for a GCN just went into my car's new brakes.) I'm sure I'll have to debug the system on a weekly basis, requiring it to stay at my house for weeks at a time...
Anyways, enjoy the system guys!!!!
Your pal,
Jason

Even if I got a GameCube on Sunday, I probably wouldn't play it. Why? Metal Gear Solid 2. I played it today for...around at least 7 hours, probably more, almost non-stop.
This holiday season is good for games, but I think we will be poor and have no free time.
