Is there a reason for this? Is this Yankee tradition, or some way of emphasizing teamwork over individualism? I don't watch baseball much but I was just wondering if anyone knew the reason...
    Game 7, here we come!

    Nothing profound just tradition.
By the way, over the years many teams have gone to the no name on the Home jerseys and names on Roadies. In fact I think there are still several teams who follow this pattern.
Of course at one time everyone went the no name route but now I believe the Yanks are the only ones who do it.

I would think that Steinbrenner could afford to have some letters on their jerseys. That is ridiculous.

I believe the Red Sox still have this way, too.
