My new tv is being delivered today (50H82). What should I do once it's in place and plugged in. I know I should let it warm up for awhile before doing any adjustments but how long?
Before you do anything else, turn the contrast down to about 40. The set comes shipped from the factory with the contrast set to 100 (torch mode, as some like to call it). Lowering the contrast will prevent screen burn-in and extend the life of your set.
After the set warms up for about 45 minutes, you can do a 9-point convergence (from the user menu) and calibrate the picture settings using a disk like Avia Guide To Home Theater.
