Hello all,
I am new to the whole home theater field and am looking for some suggestions for the apartment I will be moving to. Attached is a basic room setup and budget is about maxed at $500. Through some research I've done by just browsing this is what I've come up with:
Receiver: http://www.amazon.com/Denon-AVR-1612-Channel-Theater-Receiver/dp/B004U403WM
Floor Standing Speakers: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882117403
Center Speaker: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882117404
Being new to this I am just shooting in the dark, if you guys could help me out before I make my final decision that would be great. Since this will be in an apartment I am weary of having a sub due to the neighbors, that's why I am leaning toward the floor standing speakers. I want to just get the basics now and will upgrade/add-on as time goes by.
I am open to any suggestions, if you need any more info just let me know.

Good choice for the receiver.
Those tower speakers were $149 2 months ago. $129 4 months ago and $99 5 months ago. Newegg's prices bounce all over the place. These speakers from Pioneer are pretty good. Not very flashy (rather plan looking) but good quality sound on the cheap.
If you have a Fry's near you they have had the Infinity Primus P362's on sale for $100 a pair. MSRP is about $660/pr. The center will cost you about $200 though. But excellent speakers for that price.
Pretty strange room layout. Not much to work with as far as HT goes.

Unfortunately no Fry's even close to where I'm at. But just saw in Newegg's ad today that the speakers are down to 129 and the center is down to 49.
Yea the room layout all over the apartment is really weird, random angles everywhere.

Those are pretty good prices for the Pioneer speakers. If it turns out you don't care for them you can get that much for them on craigslist. Only issue with those Pioneers is they aren't very effecient. rated 86 db (88-90 is average) so they won't play quite as loud as some other speakers at the same volume setting. But being in an apartment that shouldn't be a problem for you. And you don't need towers for good sounding music. I use a pair of Infinity Beta 20 bookshelf speakers for two channel music (Sirrius XM in Analog Direct from my Dish network) and never even notice the sub isn't being used. Bought those Beta 20's off craigslist for $110. For movies it's a different story. There's usually much deeper bass in a movie soundtrack than in most music. But $178 for a decent 3 speaker setup is a pretty good deal.
Here's a couple of good information sites
