Next Monday's new Network releases (Armchair Theatre: Volume Three, Heartbeat: The Complete Eleventh Series and Public Eye: The ABC Years), as of a few hours ago, are now available to buy on their website. I'm guessing it's because of next Monday being a Bank Holiday.

Did anyone happen to get INTERPOL CALLING from Network? It was a Web Exclusive that was only available for a short time and supposedly went OOP last December. I say supposedly because my inquiry to Network about it being permanently OOP was answered with an ambiguous statement that more or less said they reserve the right to bring back any title at anytime. Given that the series only got so so reviews and was expensive, I decided not to pull the trigger on it. I would still like to see it though as I have interest in all Cold War media.

Glen, don't know if you've interested in this or not, but Interpol Calling: The Complete Series has a release date on Amazon UK of Monday 1st October.

Richard, just seeing this now. Thank you for the update. I notice it's 14.47 pounds during their Christmas sale right now and it's very tempting. However, for only a couple more pounds I could get THE SAINT Complete Monochrome set, but they want to charge me a whopping 40 pounds to ship that!

I'm guessing that's to do with the weight of the set, why the shipping costs are very high (it's not a Network release I've been interested in, but The Saint has been one of those black and white (later colour) series I might get at some point.

Regarding Network's release of The Human Jungle, the transfers look very good indeed (based on testing out a couple of discs in the set), reminding me of the transfers for Scales of Justice: The Complete Series.

Have they mentioned yet when we can expect the rest of The Sweeney on BD?

Haven't read anything yet about when the second series of The Sweeney is being released on Blu-ray. What was strange though about the first series Blu-ray set was, the picture did look like a HD Blu-ray picture, but it wasn't showing 1080i on the screen (think it was 720p shown on the screen).

The Sweeney Season 1 blu ray is 1080p at 24fps. There has been much online debate about whether it should have been 1080i and 25fps like the original broadcast, but it is def 24fps.

If you read the site properly you see that Network charge UK40 for every order placed from outside UK. If they are out of stock or a pre-order and they don't hold the order for that they cancel the title and you have to re-order. It only works if you can get a load and divide that money up but otherwise it is ridiculous. They do not pack and ship your order. This is done by Sony DADC but at least the UK VAT tax is eliminated on all orders to non-VAT/EC countries although this could change as the receiver countries try and get people like Amazon to add the tax and remit back to the receiver country.

In Australia we currently have a $1000 free import limit but there are agitators wanting it reduced to A$30 or no free limit at all. This would present huge problems and be too expensive all along the chain after a package gets here. For the bulk of the population the Post Office would receive the parcel and be forced to collect the payment. Much time lost again. Most post offices in Australia are family business as a franchisee with the government owned Australia Post who receives and does all the ship to POs, businesses and home deliveries. The current VAT in Australia, known as GST, charged on the end figure is 10% on most things except unprepared food and medical things. There is currently agitation to raise this to 15% by some experts. You can't win.
