Hey everyone, I'd like your help arranging an upcoming movie marathon with some friends. We've done these "mega movie days" before, and here are the titles chosen previously

First movie day
Moulin Rouge
Fight Club
Heathers
Rush Hour 2
Osmosis Jones
Monkeybone

Second movie day
Princess and the Warrior
Ghost World
Sexy Beast
Anatomy
Trekkies

As you can see, the second day was filled with little-known films, mostly recommended by yours truly. :b So, for our next movie day, I'm planning on something similar. I want to show my friends some awesome movies they might not normally see on their own.

So far, I know one of them HAS TO BE AMELIE. I absolutely love the movie, and cannot wait for its release. Others I'm considering include

Series 7
Donnie Darko
Dancer in the Dark

Any other suggestions? I really want to show them some smaller movies that will blow them away.

Thanks!
Dustin

Since you are looking for lesser known films ( from a mainstream perspective, I assume ) you might wish to consider adding one or more of these potential candidates to your lineup -
Requiem for a Dream
Lantana
Eve's Bayou
The Sweet Hereafter
The Deep End
Dark Blue World
In The Mood for Love
Brotherhood of the Wolf
The Red Violin
Time and Tide
Shiri
Memento
The Man Who Wasn't There
And, I'll second Session 9
- Walter.

If you want little movies check these out:

The Last Supper
Bound
Any of the Kevin Smith films, Clerks and Chasing Amy are highly recommended.

Wow, that's a lot of suggestions! I see a lot of recommendations for Session 9, which is funny because that's actually what I recommended for the upcoming movie day (which I'll probably skip). On her own, the host picked

The Others
City of Lost Children
Vanilla Sky
Thirteen Ghosts

and I recommended Session 9, to round out the movie selection. Do you think it's worth seeing City of Lost Children and Vanilla Sky if I have to see 13 Ghosts and The Others (which I've seen and am not that keen on seeing again)? I don't think it's worth it, really.

Brotherhood of the Wolf would be good, if it was out on DVD. It hasn't been released, though, and won't be until October. I'll look into these suggestions, though. Quite a few I haven't heard about, and it's always exciting to find a new great movie!

You couldn't pay me enough to watch 13 Ghosts again. I haven't seen the others but 13 ghosts is bad enough by itself. I will have to check out some of these others that have been recommended though. I love this forum. :)
