3.5 out of 5. Surprise, a videogame adaptation that isn't horrible! The storyline itself has its moments, and the film's leads are charming, but if you come for the cars, the driving and the stunt work, you won't be disappointed.

I'm trying hard to remember (as it was nearly a month ago that I saw this), but I don't recall any sex whatsoever in the film (not even anything suggestive, really -- unless you count a funny scene where one of Tobey's friends strips down to his birthday suit before quitting his job).

As for violence, there's only an off-screen death and a couple of punches being thrown. The extent of the violence amounts to vehicular damage and some bruised egos.

Is the movie real cars with real stunts or a significant amount of CGI?

Yes, real cars and real stunt work all the way through. That's actually a big aspect of how this movie is being promoted. I touch on this in my review as well.

Obviously, the main draw for this film is exotic cars going really fast, and not always at lawful speeds on the roads. The framework plot was serviceable, though predictable, but with enough funny bits to keep the film moving. Aaron Paul continues his streak of being a good cryer, and brought enough charisma to the role of Tobey. At least the film doesn't skimp on the consequences side of such driving exploits with these awesomely fast cars.

I give it 2.75 stars, or a grade of B-.

I learned that a coworker's son-in-law is the stunt driver for the Mustang. He's a competitive drift racer.

1.5 rating the bluray was disappointing with lack of dtsHDMA 7.1, the film hasn't been played again now in over 2 weeks since I bought it.

It has 3d disc that I don't care about 3d but useless to anyone in USA as its (region B locked) so is the (region A locked for 7.1).

I'd sooner watch ALIEN on THX laserdisc Dolby AC-3 than watch another 1 second from need for speed.
